Diving Safety Tips from a PADI Professional

A safe dive begins before entering the water. Whether you are newly certified or already experienced, following a few essential practices will help make every dive safer and more enjoyable. Plan your dive. Understand the location, expected depth, conditions and emergency procedures before entering the water. Check your equipment. Complete a proper pre-dive safety check with your buddy and confirm that all equipment is correctly fitted and functioning. Stay close to your buddy. Maintain communication throughout the dive and regularly monitor each other. Check your air and depth. Never rely on someone else to manage your limits. Monitor your gauges or dive computer frequently. Control your breathing and buoyancy. Remain calm, breathe continuously and avoid touching the seabed, coral or marine life. Ascend slowly. Follow your training, computer guidance and required safety procedures throughout the ascent. Most importantly, never dive beyond your certification, experience or comfort level. If something does not feel right, communicate with your buddy or instructor and end the dive safely. At Dive With Nader, safety, confidence and enjoyment always go together.
